Sanfeng Covanta Awarded the Tender of Phase Ⅲ Macao S.A.R. Refuse Incineration Plant (MRIP)
Environmental Protection Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region (DSPA) publicized an official Letter of Acceptance on March 5, confirming that the Consortium of Sanfeng Covanta, CHEC, Tongfang Environment and Big Four Facility Management Co. is to undertake the Phase Ⅲ Macao Refuse Incineration Plant with a designed daily throughput of 1300t. The tender price is MOP 2.567 billion (about RMB 2.243 billion).
Macao Refuse Incineration Plant, as the major refuse incinerator in Macao Special Administrative Region, is located in Pac On Industrial Zone of Taipa. Its Phase Ⅰ and Phase Ⅱ have been in operation, with a daily throughput of 1,728t. When the Phase Ⅲ is put into operation, the total throughput will reach 3,028t/d, providing an annual power generation of about 400 million kW.h which will meet the power needs of 60,000 households.

As a member of the Consortium winning this bid, Chongqing Sanfeng Covanta Environmental Industry Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chongqing Sanfeng Environment Group Corp., Ltd., and engages itself in EPC for Waste-to-Energy projects, supply of core equipment, and operation and management services. So far, Sanfeng Covanta’s stokers have been applied to 9 countries including mainland China, USA, Germany, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Brazil, and the application performance is among the top in Chinese Waste-to-Energy industry.
Once established and put into operation, this Project will efficiently address the problem of municipal refuse in Macao, mitigate its adverse impact on environment, and further improve life quality of local residents. It will also be a landmark project for Sanfeng Covanta in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and countries and regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and will help to expand its market share in Portuguese-speaking countries.
